In 1972, Maurice founded and published the San Francisco Journal, a Chinese language newspaper with a weekly English edition. The SF Journal reported on community events as well as news in China based on his travels and first hand interviews with Chinese officials. Upon retiring from the San Francisco Journal, he devoted his time to writing.
In 1995, Maurice published the Literati monthly magazine. His publications included 4 volumes of Selected Works of Maurice Chuck, Passionate Years in San Francisco, Chinatown and Outspoken. Maurice’s trilogy, Raving Currents, Raging Tides and Towering Waves, was completed and published earlier this year.
The Chinese Culture Foundation honored Maurice Chuck with our 2012 Lifetime Achievement in Community Building Award at our Harmony and Bliss Gala.
