See how ancient methods can benefit a modern lifestyle
The Chinese Culture Center invites you to a luncheon
lecture series on Traditional Chinese philosophies for health,
luck, and prosperity. Running every Friday in July from 12:30
to 1:30 PM, these lectures will cover topics such as Feng Shui,
Qi-Gong, and Traditional Chinese Medicine for use in everyday
life.
The ancient philosophical foundation of these
arts includes the concepts of yin and yang, five elements, and
qi. While these ideas are over 5,000 years old, their application
toward harmonizing the individual and his environment can still
benefit a modern lifestyle. Feng Shui embraces these principles
to align objects within a physical space maximize good fortune
ad health. Widely used in Asia to set up office buildings and
homes, the practice is gaining popularity in the west. Qi-gong
is a set of exercise aimed at maintaining a smooth flow of energy
in the body; related to the more widely known practice of Taiji,
qi-gong has been, among other things, attributed to bringing cancers
into remission. Chinese medicine includes acupuncture, herbal
medicine, and dietary adjustments, designed to treat the body
as a whole instead of specific sicknesses.
