Tang Court Music and Dance
The Performance
Thirty-five years ago, Liu Feng-shueh spent over half a year in a special department of the Japanese Imperial Palace to research Tang Dynasty music and dance. Much of the music went undocumented in China, thereby being lost to the ravages of time, rebellion, and social change.

Yet, Liu discovered that Japan sent 19 delegations to the Tang Court to learn about Chinese culture, including music and dance. Much was recorded and thereby preserved outside of the land of its origin, finding its way to the Land of the Rising Sun.

The performance that Liu has choreographed uses her research as a foundation, and will be sure to captivate audiences of all ages.
