Saturday, May 22, 2004, 10:30am
CCC Community Room
This lecture will look into traditional Chinese family life,
custom and rituals. You will see how the six rituals of marriage
in the past still survive today and create conflicts in Chinese
American families.
Mr. Lew is a leading expert on Chinese and Chinese American
culture. He is the former chair of the Chinese Department of
the City College of San Francisco where he taught Chinese language
and culture. He was also the publisher of East-West bilingual
news for many years. His previous lectures on Chinese American
culture include such topics as folk festivals and surnames.
Both lectures will be given in English.
Admission is free for CCC members, and $5.00 for non-members.
