Four Styles of Yixing Wares

In conjunction with the
current exhibition "Purple Sand, Fragrant Tea: Contemporary
Yixing Master Works" at the Chinese Culture Center of San
Francisco,
Ms. Terese Tse Bartholomew will present a one-hour lecture on
the history of Yixing
wares and the appreciation of their unique beauty.
Terese Tse Bartholomew has been a curator at the Asian
Art Museum for thirty-six years. She was curator of the first
exhibition on Yixing ware in the United States at the China
Institute, New York, in 1977. She has worked on numerous
exhibitions at the Asian Art Museum, and has published in the
fields of Yixing ware, myths and rebuses in Chinese art, Chinese
botanical motifs, Tibetan art, and Indian sculptures. Ms.
Bartholomew has been a member and supporter of the Chinese
Culture Center since it opened.
