THE EMPEROR IS COMING!

Private Viewing of "Splendors from China's Imperial Palace"

Oakland Museum of California, Oak at Tenth Street

Thursday, October 19, 2000

5:30 - 8:30 PM

YOU ARE INVITED TO A PRIVATE VIEWING OF THE PRECIOUS OBJECTS FROM CHINA'S "FORBIDDEN CITY!"

On Thursday, Oct. 19, The Chinese Culture Foundation of San Francisco (CCF) & Friends will Enjoy a Private Viewing for International Business Leaders, a tasty Dim Sum Reception, and superb Business Networking

The CCF and the California-Asia Business Council (Cal-Asia, formerly Cal-SEA) have arranged a special evening at the Museum of California in Oakland for our respective members and friends to view the upcoming exhibition, "Secret World of the Forbidden City: Splendors from China's Imperial Palace."

The exhibit features more than 350 exquisite treasures from the Imperial Palace Museum in Beijing that have never before traveled to the United States. Because our private reception occurs during the show's first week in Northern California, you will be among the first to see it.

Date, Place, Parking & Bart:

Thursday, Oct. 19, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the architecturally exciting Oakland Museum of California, Oak at Tenth Streets in Oakland.

(NOTE: We have arranged COMPLIMENTARY PARKING in the Museum's interior garage, with entrance on Oak Street. Also, the Lake Merritt BART STATION is one short block away at Oak & Ninth Streets.)

The Exhibit:

The exhibit includes a complete throne room from the Imperial Palace! Also, paintings, formal robes, armor, jewelry, imperial scepters, much more. The show reveals the opulence of the Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1911), which ended with the short reign of the child emperor, Pu- Yi (The Last Emperor). Even the bicycle Pu-Yi rode through the palace is included. Docents will be available to answer your questions.

Business & Social Networking:

Along with these treasures, enjoy superb business and social networking! Also joining us will be Chinese commercial and trade officials; China business experts; and members of cooperating organizations who, like you, are all engaged in Asian business.

Dim Sum Reception:

Our private reception will feature savory Chinese dim sum prepared for us by TIN'S TEAHOUSE. Located at 701 Webster Street in Oakland's Chinatown, Tin's is the East Bay's finest dim sum restaurant. We'll also serve wines, mineral waters, and other refreshments.

Invitation & Guests:

Please feel free to invite your partners/spouses, customers and business associates -- even your kids!

Golden Dragon Sponsor:

We invite your company to become a GOLDEN DRAGON sponsor of the evening. Your commitment of $800 entitles you to 4 admissions to the Private Viewing and Reception, and suitable recognition on our printed and on-line materials. Proceeds will help underwrite expenses for the evening and contribute to the business programs and activities of the CCF and Cal-Asia. (Should Golden Dragon sponsors require more than the four admissions, they will be available at the discounted price of $35.)

To become a sponsor, contact Jeremy Potash at jeremy@calasia.org, or 510-536-1967. Commitments required by Sept. 15 (or earlier, enabling us to post your company's logo and web link earlier).

China: From Empire to e-enterprise:

A benefit of this event will be the compilation of a new business RESOURCE: a listing of China-focused DOTCOMS AND OTHER CALIFORNIA COMPANIES doing business in China or eager to enter that market by means of the Internet, the growth of which is expanding exponentially in China.

To be eligible for inclusion, please commit to becoming a Golden Dragon sponsor by Sept. 15. (Contact Jeremy at 510-536-1967).

Admission Price:

Admission is $50 per adult, and $25 for children age 12 or under. (Or, see details above re Golden Dragon Sponsor, which includes 4 admissions with an option for discounted supplementary admissions.)

Advance Reservations:

ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Please respond by September 30th.

We look forward to sharing this very special evening with you!

Sincerely,

Gloria Tai, President/Acting Executive Director, Chinese Culture Foundation of San Francisco,
