和歷史悠久的中國的藝術,文化和科學一樣,益智遊戲在中國也流傳已久。許多中國的傳統益智遊戲也是智慧和藝術的傑作。
“Puzzles”在中國叫做益智遊戲。自古以來,從平民到宮廷,益智遊戲都深受男女老少的喜愛。
中國益智遊戲展覽的所有展品都來自藝智堂的收藏。其中包括傳統的七巧板,九連環和華容道。另外還有益智器物,益智圖像和一些智巧的生活用品,比如連環戒指或多開機關古鎖。
此次中國益智遊戲的展覽的一個重要的部分是互動。人們既可以觀賞展櫃中的益智遊戲,還可以在互動台上或互動教室裡親自動手動腦,體驗把玩益智遊戲的快樂和揭解益智遊戲的成就感。
藝智堂的藏主是舊金山灣區的張衛和雷彼德。近十二年來,他們走遍中國,北美和歐洲古董市場,收集這些迅速地消失的物品。中國益智遊戲展覽是藝智堂第一次綜合公展,也是第一個關於中國益智遊戲的專展。
此展覽歡迎不同年齡與文化背景的個人或家庭參與。

“Hands-on-Puzzles” Workshops

Along with the Chinese Puzzles exhibition, the Chinese Culture Center will be offering hands-on sessions to school groups and Summer/Fall programs. On Sunday, June 22, world-renowned auction house Sotheby’s invites the general public to bring Asian works of art to Ming and Other Things, a benefit appraisal day in celebration of the Asian Art Museum’s summer exhibition, Power & Glory: Court Arts of China’s Ming Dynasty. Sotheby’s Asian arts specialists will appraise Asian artworks from 11am to 5 pm, in the grand ballroom of Hilton San Francisco Financial District, the official hotel sponsor of Power & Glory. The appraisal fee is $5 per artwork with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Asian Art Museum. Only cash or check can be accepted. Summer Palace posterC4 is pleased to present “Summer Palace” (2006), a film by Lou Ye, for its next installment. This film will be played in Mandarin with English subtitles.

Banned by the Chinese government, this powerful drama follows rebellious young Yu Hong as she leaves her small village and her family behind to attend Beijing University in the late 1980s. As her tumultuous relationships with two different men reflects the turmoil gripping her country, she begins to become overwhelmed by chaos. (Note: Due to its graphic nature, this film is suggested for mature audiences only.)
