Thanks to a Creative Space Grant from the San Francisco Arts Commission, we installed new
carpeting in the Center's main gallery and shop. While we were at it, we also gave the
gallery shop a face-lift. We hope you'll like its new design and feng shui.
New In The Shop
Peasant paintings. The Center has acquired a handful of original paintings by Chinese
peasant artists from the 1980s depicting village life in brilliant, vivid colors.
Butterflies aflutter in gallery shop. If you step into our
gallery shop and happen to see a butterfly or two flitting about amongst the carved seals,
Moon Festival lanterns, and handmade silk kites, it's only the flitting that's in your
imagination! Our shop now carries butterflies from Asia and other parts of the world
handsomely mounted in acrylic display cases.
Books. 100 Chinese Gods by Wu Luxing, illustrated by Lu
Yanguang. $19.95 paper. Winner of the Asian Pacific Publishers Association's Silver Prize,
this volume covers a broad range of historical and legendary Chinese characters. Jadeite
by Lee Ying Ho. $19.95 paper. This fully illustrated volume discusses the stone's origin,
appreciation, and worth, as well as maintenance of jadeite jewelry and identification of
imitations.
Chinese zodiac greeting cards. These cards tell you about your
zodiac sign. On the back of each card is a zodiac calendar from the year 1912 to the year
2007. Blank inside, appropriate for any occasion.
And... The shop now carries a range of premium teas from the
Triple Leaf Tea Co., Chinese zodiac paperweights made of crystal, mahjong tile pendants,
and a selection of jewelry from Museum Reproductions of Boston including Tang dynasty ear
adornments and dangling I Ching coin earrings.
