Ushering the traditional art form of brush painting into modernity, this exhibit features 18 preeminent contemporary artists from all over the world. A traveling exhibition widely shown in Taiwan, China, New York, and Chicago, it is a collection of major works that represents new directions in this ancient medium.

Curated by art critic Daojian Pi, the installation at the Chinese Culture Center Gallery is designed by one of the featured artists, Lampo Leong. Works will be shown by the following renowned artists:
France: Xingjian Gao
United States: Lampo Leong, Kong-Yi Wang
South Korea: Soo-Gil Kim, Soo-Ryun Song
Taiwan: Kuo-Sung Liu, Chin-Taa Yuan, Ken-Shen Hung
Hong Kong: Deng-Chai Leung, Chun-Yi Lee, Cheng-Qiu Chen, Kwan-Lap Chen
China: Xiuchang Duan, Quan Liang, Zhijian Liu, Deshu Qiu, Zhenzhong Qiu, Guanzhong Wu
Among the distinguished group of artists included, Xingjian Gao of France is also a Nobel Laureate in Literature. Professor Kuo-sung Liu from Taiwan, whose work will also be shown, is the leader and one of the most important artists of modern brush painting movement in the Chinese art world. Professor Lampo Leong, from the University of Missouri-Columbia, is both the installation designer and a featured artist, who is influential in bridging the gaps between Western painting and brush painting, artistic creation and digital technologies.
The opening reception will be held on December 9, 2006 from 2:30-4:30pm at the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco.
