San Francisco- The Chinese Culture Foundation (CCF) is pleased to announce the launch of Episode, a new exhibition series. Episode features guest curators, collectors, artists, and community organizations that exhibit a broad view of diverse works in Chinese culture and art.

As the first exhibition in the series, CCF the Chinese Culture Foundation welcomes Images of Chinatown, photographs by Maurice H. Edelstein. Edelstein’s work was selected to launch the series because of his long-standing photography career that has documented change and transformation in Chinatown. He has also been a respected friend within the community and with the Chinese Culture Foundation.

This retrospective solo exhibition will examine the lives of residents framed by everyday street backdrops. A frequently ignored subject overshadowed by Chinatown as a tourist spot itself, Edelstein’s photography gives the spotlight to the people who live and work within Chinatown, one of the densest neighborhoods in the country. Additionally, historical photos such as the protest of the I-hotel, depicts the activist history and vibrancy of the community.

About the Artist:  Maurice H. Edelstein, a native of San Francisco and dear friend to the Chinese community, Edelstein has been taking photographs for over four decades. His work has been long documented, and has exhibited at the Chinese Culture Center in 1998 and 2004.

A new CCCArts exhibition series.
Episode features guest curators, collectors, artists, and community organizations that exhibit a broad view of diverse works in Chinese culture and art.

Episode complements the cutting-edge, innovative contemporary work established through the Foundation in its CCCArts Visual Arts program, in exhibitions such as Present Tense Biennial, XianRui, WOMEN我們 and others curated by the Chinese Culture Foundation

  About CCCArts:

CCCArts is the Visual Arts Program administered by the Chinese Culture Foundation. The program challenges perceptions, and encourages risk-taking. By promoting the most innovative artists today, we bring visibility through open dialogue..
