ANNOUNCEMENT
A New Beginning:
Chinese Culture Center Undergoes Major Renovation
Opened in 1973, the Chinese Culture Center has a long
history of community service. It has provided
exhibitions on art and culture, cultural performances
and seminars, classes in language, music, painting and
tai chi; youth oriented family history program; heritage
and culinary tours of Chinatown.
The 32 year old facility is outdated and suffered from
the normal wear and tear of an old structure. As
part of a new lease amendment with Justice Investors,
owners of the building, our Center will undergo a $3.53
million makeover starting June 1, 2005 and is expected
to be completed by the end of the year. The
remodeled Center will have a state-of-the art auditorium
and audio-visual set-up, expanded gallery and shop
space, new classrooms and offices. With the new
facilities, it is our mission to expand services to
youth, the immediate Chinese community as well as the
great San Francisco community in mounting culturally
relevant educational events, programs and exhibitions.
During renovation, the Center will continue to operate
at a temporary location: 555 Montgomery
Street, 16th Floor, Suite 1650, San Francisco, CA 94111.
If you have any questions, please contact Gloria Tai,
Executive Director of the Center, at (415) 986-1822.
Our telephone number and mailing address will remain the
same during renovation.
