California Roots: Locke, 10.22.2016

FotorCreated

Join us on an expedition to Locke, the only town built and inhabited exclusively by Chinese in America. Locke serves as a reminder of the hundreds of Chinese communities that once existed across the American West, home to the pioneers who brought critical expertise and labor to the building of early America.

Visit the original Chinese school, gambling hall, association, and bunk house. Explore the town, have lunch, and shop for arts, crafts, or historical curios!

Historical narration provided by Darin Ow-Wing, Director of Education at the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco.**
