Digging Deeper into Family Stories:

Chinese Family History Workshop (Free)

Workshop will be in English with Mandarin and Cantonese translators. Refreshments served.


Jeanie Chooey (author of China Connection: Finding Ancestral Roots for Chinese in America) will present oral history techniques and documentation.

Melvin P. Thatcher (Area Manager, Asia, Genealogical Society of Utah) will discuss the use of technology to access databases in family research.

Al Cheng and Him Mark Lai, cofounders of the In Search of Roots program, will present a discussion on researching ancestral villages.

The workshop is followed by an optional tour of either the CHSA Museum or Chinatown. Space is limited to 30 people for the CHSA Museum tour, and 15 people for the Chinatown tour, Reservations are required.
