Interested in Chinese art and culture? Consider volunteering for the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco!
All volunteers and interns will be trained extensively and learn the ins-and-outs of a arts-based community nonprofit.
Students are welcome and can receive credit.
The Chinese Culture Center is currently seeking volunteers to help in the following areas. Tasks and positions include, but are not limited to:
Exhibition/Event: assist with exhibitions, opening receptions, film screening and other events as needed.
Administrative: learn and assist with basic office tasks, and work with the different programs in our organization (how to update our website, setup an event online, input data and emails to CCC database, edit flyers and other promotional materials).
Gallery: get trained in gallery operations and be the public face of the Center! Greet visitors, take calls, make sales, and learn about each exhibition.
Translator: translate from English to Chinese or from Chinese to English
Freelance writer: write about art and cultural events.
Graphic designer: Flexible schedule, you will receive credits as graphic designer. Duties include: designing and editing ads, brochures, flyers, posters and other marketing material.
Podcast producer/editor: video or audio taping events and seminars. Flexible schedule, you will receive credits as show producer and editor. Duties include: Operate DV and Audio recorder, Capture, and edit footage, Burn video and audio into DVD and upload footage or audio file on website.
Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 9:30-6:00pm, Saturdays 9:30-4:00pm

OTHER WAYS TO GET INVOLVED:
Heritage Walk Docents: Engage and share the Chinatown community through our heritage walking tour, “A Tale of Two Chinatowns.” Here’ a chance to expose visitors to different perspectives of Chinatown and the Chinese American experience through our walks. Docents lead small groups of visitors and school groups on an educational walking tour through San Francisco’s Chinatown to promote a better understanding of the history of Chinatown, the Chinese American community, and the role of the Chinese Culture Center in Chinatown. Bilingual a plus but not required. For more information, see the Docent job description.
We are currently in need of Mandarin-speaking docents!
